Great food as always, from a short but adequate menu, along with a decent wine selection and intriguing drink list. The service was quiet, competent, and pleasant. The greatest drawback is little sense of *place* -- the strip mall setting, the boxy room done up with understated elegance but still feeling like a storefront. That doesn't interfere with the dining so much as recalling the restaurant the next time you're thinking of going out.

absolutely delicious meal in a strip mall type environment. Staff was attentive and had good recommendations; the sparkling moscato wine was yummy. Portions were generous without being overwhelming. The Lemon Semifreddo was a light and tart ending for a lovely meal.

Really great service! The manager was awesome and accommodated us without a reservation. He even provided us with complementary Prosecco. The food was fantastic - something I couldn't make at home which I really enjoyed.

Outstanding food and service. We have been meaning to try this restaurant, and saw it on Groupon so we gave it a shot. From the drinks to appetizer to entrée to dessert, everything was AMAZING. I had their scallops and my husband has the duck- both were 'lick your plate' good. I would definitely recommend for a nice date night.

This review is a mixed bag. The food was great, the drinks were great, the service decent (great for others), but the location was a little odd. The decor inside is nice but something about staring at a lit Ace Hardware sign through the window while eating in an upscale restaurant threw me off. There was also the fact that we were the youngest people in the restaurant. It's not a huge problem but we are in our 30's and everyone else was double our age or more. It could just be the location and the demographics of our 'hood but it we felt a little out of place. The owner was making his rounds the entire time we were there talking to each of the 17 tables, which I found endearing...I love those touches. Until, he never once came to our table. Was it because we are not gray haired? We did drop $200 on dinner in his restaurant. We actually had a bet going that he wouldn't say a single word to us, but as we were walking out the door, he did thank us for coming in. Also, we saw other diners get to chose from a yummy looking cheese/wine cart that their server brought by after dinner. I have only seen this done at Tru in Chicago, which is a Michelin star restaurant. Great touch, only we were not offered the same display. We were only given the desert menu. This could just be something that specific server did as his finishing touch. Our server did not offer the cheese cart to any of her tables. Big miss in my opinion. Anyway, negatives out of the way...we tried a little of everything on the menu. We started with the pork belly appetizer. I found it a little dry (over cooked?) and the white beans were very al diente, but the flavors were good. This was my least favorite dish. Next we had the Cesar salad. We both agreed that it was dry and under-dressed, but the fresh Parmesan was tasty. For the main course (yes we stuffed ourselves) we split the half order pumpkin tortellini, the hangar steak, and the lamb chops. All three of the main courses were delicious. For desert, I had the cheese plate with a sweet port aperitif. The brie that they pared with the pureed dates was so good that I would go back just for that. Overall, we wanted to get the full experience. We live down south and were excited to hear about a non-chain, fine dining option in our area. We would return and do it on a smaller scale. I'm just not sure why we weren't treated the same as the other tables in the restaurant. Other tables were offered an off the menu apple pie desert and a glass of lemoncello. We asked our server what they were having and she said oh that's not on the menu. Yet everyone else had it. She did let us order it though and even said the lemoncello was complimentary. It seemed weird that every other table was offered this "complimentary" item, yet we had to ask for it. Maybe the entire restaurant was a group of the owner's personal friends and we just came on a night when he was hosting his colleagues and aiming to impress. It was just really noticeable that we were not included in this effort. In case you were wondering, the tables are in fact made of wood.

Nice find in a suburban strip mall. Been wanting to try this place for a while and a groupon gave us the impetus. Dinner was great - from a nice, upscale ambiance to a at tentative and personable waitress (Lizzy), everything worked. The chicken liver crostini, pumpkin pasta, and duck breast were all excellently prepared. Will definitely be back. Our new favorite northern italian restaurant.

Horrible experience with their customer service. They advertise as a fine dinning place but act with the mentality of a small cafe in a strip mall. I made on line reservation for dinner and got an email confirmation but when I arrived a rude person at the front desk denied my reservation and insisted to have me seated at the bar. I explained to him that I make reservation to have a nice dinner in a fine dinning place at a table not a bar but he kept on his unprofessional behavior saying that I can't have a table to myself and have to sit at the bar. Also I explained that I like to experience the service before I bring business group events to restaurants but he didn't care. He pretended that he would speak to the manager and came back saying that there is nothing they can do. When I insisted to speak to the manager he claimed that the manager can't speak to me and he's the one calling the shots. Obviously all the basic customer care manners are violated without fear of consequences. Restaurants with such manners should never be allowed to stay in business. I have never had such experience in any fine restaurant. I would strongly recommend that this restaurant should be off the list of option if anybody is looking for a nice dinner in a decent place. They're rude and disrespectful to customers.

New to the area and excited to try The Wooden Table, my wife and I showed up at 6:15 w/o reservations to an almost empty restaurant and we're told there was no available indoor seating. We chose the patio as it was our only option. The food was great, I had the duck and my wife had linguini. The service however was sub par for the prices they charge. We had to ask for bead after being sat for over 15 mins and for refills on our empty drinks. We were never offered fresh pepper or grated cheese for our dishes (as one would expect at a semi-fine dining restaurant). We finished with our mains and we're left unattended for 30 mins w/o drink refills or being offered desert, the interior tables didn't start seating until 7:30 leaving us pondering why we weren't offered a table inside over an hour prior. Overall it was not worth the $150 we spent. One would expect a certain level of attentiveness from staff in a semi empty restaurant especially with the prices they charge. Two stars for the food (as it was excellent) and minus three for the lack of service. They would have gotten five. We will not be coming back.

Just a fantastic dining experience. We came down from denver and were impressed on all fronts; service food and wine paring. Shared five courses which we would recommend as you would want to try most. We will return with friends and get Robert's help as sommelier.

Not a suburbanite, I typically find the suburbs have few creative dining options outside of fast food and chain restaurants (ewe). The Wooden Table staff was extremely nice and attentive. Reservations don't really seem necessary, but it is a small dining room so if you visit for a holiday or wkend night, you may want to do so. I had the Agnolotti, herbed goat cheese stuffed gnocchi with braised lamb and roasted red peppers. It was delicious! Better atmosphere and expanded menu would improve this rating.

One of my favorite new restaurants. We went on a Monday night where they feature 50% of wines, which is a wonderful deal and allows you to either save some bucks or splurge on a wine you wouldn't normally order. For starters, the eggplant dish was phenomenal. It was very creative, seeming to be a hybrid of the flavors of Eggplant Parmigiana with the shape of Arancini. It was full of flavor and cooked perfectly so the cheese melted just write when you cut it open. The Prosciutto salad with grapefruit was also well plated and full of flavor. It was quite larger than others in my party, and the price explains that ($12 vs $7-9 for other salads). But it was worth the price. I had the Duck entree and it was delicious. I will rate it a 4 only because of the accompaniments. Although the duck was delicious and cooked perfectly, the accompanying gnocchi was sparse and the butternut squash was diced too small and tasted undercooked. I would have liked a puree or more of a sauce as well to dip the duck in. I had a similar dish at Bittersweet Restaurant and it was far superior. I will definitely go back and next time I will try the Lobster Linguini. To finish the meal they bring out complementary limoncello. This was a very nice touch and it was a delicious palate cleanser. Desserts were also beyond exceptional. We shared the cheesecake, the pot de creme, and the tres leches. I couldn't pick a favorite because they were all so heavenly. I would say, however, that the tres leches is a contender for the best I have ever had. The service was outstanding and Gary is a a wonderful host.

We were very unimpressed with the atmosphere of this place. Wooden Table sounds so warm, not so much. Very expensive and in a strip mall. Also, the waiter kept filling our sodas and when the bill comes.....no free refills! Almost $30 in sodas! Never again.

Great restaurant with food to die for. We highly recommend the argula salad, pappardelle, and the beef dish. Service can be spotty, but overall good. It's also loud. Overall, we love this place and keep coming back.

What a surprise for a find. In town for a business meeting and scheduled a dinner for 8. We started with mussels and sweetened....amazing. next was an average ceasar salad. i asked the server to surprise me with an entree and I was served the duck. Out of this world! Lastly we ordered desert and got the Molton cake, bread pudding and rhubarb pie, all outstanding and full of flavor. Would be an instant go to again. Thanks for the great service.

This is a difficult review because I usually like this restaurant. This experience was with a group of 6. The first course was clouded by one of my guests finding a balled up paper in his salad. The second course, duck, was clouded by the plate presentation & lack of imagination. The food tasted as it looked, all brown. Mono-flavor, mono-pallet, mono-experience. And the dessert course was sadly interrupted by a persistent fly that literally bounced off of my face before claiming the remained of my Tres Leches cake. I normally really enjoy this place. This experience was just poor all around.

The Wooden Table is one of those restaurants you don't want to review; it's the place you want to keep secret, to have entirely to yourself. I'd seen the restaurant reviewed on Yelp but had no idea where it was. Nestled in a strip mall off Orchard & University, The Wooden Table does a good job of staying off the map. It's not difficult to find, but secretive enough not to attract an overwhelming crowd. The interior is somewhat intimate, but the one-room dining and bar area, with two and four-top tables, doesn't quite set the most romantic atmosphere. Still, the set up is not entirely distracting. Though I could overhear the conversation at other tables, I wasn't completely distracted from my own dining experience. Many of the dishes are made in-house, including mozzarella, bread, and pasta. Appetizers ranged from said mozzarella, to mussels, to pork belly, with options to enjoy the pasta dishes in appetizer portions as well. Entrees include salmon, scallops, duck, veal, and hangar steak (among others). We settled on the pork belly to start, with duck & scallop entrees. Our meal was amazing. The pork belly was divine, tender & full of flavor. THIS is what I'd call gourmet "bacon candy." The scallop dish features three large scallops atop a shrimp cake, a decent serving for myself - and fairly standard for a scallop dish - but possibly too light for someone with a larger stomach. The duck entree was larger, with duck served two ways. My boyfriend devoured it, but was kind enough to let me sample. The duck sausage was amazing! We followed dinner with chocolate frangelico cheesecake & Irish coffee. Service was at the level expected for this calibre restaurant, and the manager stopped at every table post-meal to follow up. We're looking forward to visiting in the future & highly recommend The Wooden Table.

Real food at a real restaurant with real service. Possibly the best Italian in the state. Eat all over the country and I can say the chefs have their formula of excellence down pat here. A little pricey but not bad, and definitely worth it.

A gourmet lunch in the burbs! Whoda thunk? A brilliant salmon salad plus great service -- I'm a simple man and that's all I need. My business lunch date enjoyed his meal also. We'll be back.

Excellent in every way. I liked the space, but some might think it's a bit stark and loud. The service was friendly and professional. The food was awesome. I understand the chef worked at Mizuna and helped open Osteria Marco. I had marinated seafood, spinach salad, pasta, stuffed trout, and white chocolate raspberry cheesecake, and there wasn't a weak link in the bunch. They're in the shopping center at University and Orchard.

Overall not too impressed with the quality of the food. I ordered the linguine and the duck cavatelli. I returned the linguine dish because the clams did not taste very fresh and was very chewy. The broth was kind of meh. The duck cavatelli dish I would order again as i thought it was their best pasta dish. I asked for the ravioli to replace the linguine. Good dish but nothing special. Ravioli filled with cheese with a sage brown butter drizzle. Nothing really stood out with the ravioli dish. My wife ordered the tortelloni and the spinach salad. She really enjoyed the salad and thought the tortelloni dish was ok. I tasted the tortelloni dish and did not like it. They stuff the pasta with asparagus (puree?) and did not like the combination. The very little lobster that was in the dish was chewy and the overall flavor of the dish was lacking. I would give the desserts about a 2 star rating. The molten lava cake was dry and left a powdery bitter aftertaste. I've had much better at chain restaurants. They charge $8 for that?? At first I really enjoyed the tres leches cake until i got to the middle of it. The middle and edge of the cake was dry and not moist. I could see the cake being one of the better desserts if it is done right. The ice cream is good but it's not really a scoop of ice cream--more like a spoonful. Pretty skimpy on the ice cream proportions. Overall, the servers are enthusiastic about the menu and service is good but the food quality is lacking and overpriced for what your getting. I would be back for the duck cavatelli and maybe give the tres leches cake another chance. The cake has to be done right for the high price. I would give the service about 4 stars and the food about 2.5 stars.

Ate here this evening and we were pleasantly surprised. We went based on Yelp and Trip Advisor reviews. Not only was the food superb but the service provided by Jordan was exquisite. The variety of ingredients was unusual for what is essentially an Italian themed restaurant. Rabbit, duck, venison, lamb and lobster to mention a few. We went on a Monday and were lucky to get in without a reservation. We are from the NYC area and The Wooden Table is in the league with the best from that area

My husband and I came for a date night with a groupon. The food was really good. The service was very good. The ambiance was very nice--it's a perfect date night place. It's definitely pricey without the groupon so it wouldn't be a place we would go to often. But as a treat, it's perfect.

Love. Love. Love. My husband and I came to Denver for our honeymoon and once Jason knew that, they made our visit an amazing one. We started with the mozzarella and arugula salads. Both were absolutely delicious. Great balance of flavors and textures. Then we had our main courses. I had the braised rabbit gnocchi and my husband had the hangar steak. I definitely won best dish (but not by much). The sauce was flavorful and we'll balanced. The diced veggies gave an excellent balance of textures and the bread gnocchi was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend this dish. We finished with the Tres leches cake which was delicious. The nutmeg gave it a nice spiciness and balanced the sweet flavors of the milk. Johanna was our server and she was very friendly and informative. If we lived here, this would undoubtedly be our go-to. Highly recommend this place!

Who would of thought a non-chain eatery with serious fine dining cred would wind up in my childhood neighborhood. The Wooden Table serves up what one would expect at a downtown or Capitol Hill establishment in an unassumming strip mall in the burbs. Unfortunately for me, this place wasn't around during my youth and is now halfway across town. Eitherway, it was so worth the trip back to the old stomping grounds. I ended up here on a Saturday night and began the evening at the bar to partake in their pretty awesome happy hour. $3 well drinks, wine, and beer as well as $5 house martinis are a great accompaniment to their $6 food options. We ended up with the mussels and frutti di mare crudo. Not only substantial for only $6, they were immensely full of flavor, especially the mussel broth which contained chunks of sausage!! After partaking in happy hour, we moved to the formal dining room for our dinner. I ordered the black cod which was highlighted by the accompanying cauliflower puree and shrimp and scallop quenelle. My mom, being a pasta lover, ended up ordering the caesar salad and the ravioli. Even with just a half portion, she was fully satisfied. To finalize the meal, we were each given complimentary shots of dessert liqueurs. These shots were awesome ways to cap off the entire dining experience. Overall,I'll gladly return here as it appears they change up their menu regularly to capitalize on seasonal produce.

Went with daughter and son-in-law. ordered appetizer, cheese plate - did not amount to much although attractive enough for a photo shoot, each had a small slice of bread cut in half with small container of olive oil for all 4 of us. Think we must have ordered from the wrong part of menu - pasta. Salads were excellent. Daughter couldn't eat her pasta with huge amount of red pepper flakes in it making it too spicy, husband and I had tortellino type pasta with tarragon sauce - just about 6 in the bottom of large bowl, called a "large" portion. Daughter and son in law ordered a lemon type cake for dessert, said was excellent. We ordered molten lava cake -a little cake dried out and cold, small chocolate center , which was not even warm. When we first got there (with reservations) they attempted to sit us at the table closest to the bathrooms although there was only one other couple in entire restaurant. We declined and noticed next couple to come in was seated at that table. Total bill well over $200, so think we should have gotten better all the way around. Probably will never go back, this was first time. Wooden Table name denotes a rustic atmosphere with hearty Italian food, quite misleading for a plain strip mall restaurant who is attempting to be upscale without success. We had read excellent reviews, but the restaurant did not live up to them for us, quite a disappointment.

I really, really enjoyed The Wooden Table! Read so many good things about the place so I was invited to lunch with a co-worker and it was delicious! I can't wait to go back for dinner. I had the Proscuitto and Grapefruit salad which was a true dlight - arugula as the base with shaved parmesan cheese on top - the flavors were fantastic! Reminded me of Proscuitto and melon that my Italian Aunt used to make for us. The came the 1/2 order of pork belly, linguine and Amitriaca sauce which was also a dlight! Just the right amount of spicy that will leave your lips pleasantly stinging from spice. Cute setting and wonderful food - a nice little gem in Greenwood Village off of Orchard.

I recently had dinner at The Wooden Table for a friend's birthday dinner. Our server, Brad, was quick (but never hurrying) and courteous, and was not only our server, but also doubled as the bartender -- and apparently a cocktail artist! He quickly brought around our drinks, which, for me, was a perfectly crafted Whiskey Sour...the prettiest I've ever seen! Then on to dinner! I was expecting a good meal, after reading that the chef once worked at Luca and Osterio Marco -- and I was not disappointed by any measure! Me and my two friends each selected a different pasta dish from the many delicious sounding plates on the menu. We decided on the Roasted Pork Belly Linguine, Agnolotti with Shrimp Scampi in a Tarragon Mascarpone Sauce, and Braised Lamb Shoulder Gnochhi. Each of us portioned out our pasta and shared so we could all enjoy each of these amazing dishes. Every dish was transcendent and perfectly cooked. Though each dish wowed us, the Lamb Shoulder Gnocchi definitely stood out as the star! Meat so mouthwateringly tender in a creamy sauce that did not even hint of too much butter or salt (take THAT Olive Garden!) Overall, service, drinks and food were amazing and a treasured find in a suburban strip mall (albeit a more upscale one!) The only thing I wouldn't say was "perfect" was the minimalist and open dining area. The open layout and tight seating made for a fairly loud room once the restaurant was filled. And for some reason the sylvan vision in my head of "The Wooden Table" was an idyllic rustic provincial restaurant (like Potager or Duo) with a hand carved community table tucked in a corner. Alas, my musings set me up to be disappointed. However, the service and food is so exceptional, one can completely forget about the decor as they are transported into pasta nirvana!

My husband and I dined at the Wooden Table for the first time last night. We were very impressed. We had an amazing waiter named Danny. He was extremely helpful with wine and food suggestions and took great care of us! What a wonderful evening of great food and service! We will definitely be back and if you decide to go ask to have Danny take care of you. Lucinda W.

A real neighborhood gem. The menu includes homemade pastas and tasty entrees that are the perfect portion. You'll want to make a reservation. The restaurant is small but quaint. And, the staff is friendly and attentive.

We were promptly greeted when we arrived and shown to our table (we had reservations). Staff were nice and knowledgeable. We each started with a Prosciutto di Parma salad. It was very good. For my entree, I chose the Ricotta Cavatelli (which was highly recommended by our server). I found my entree very rich AND WAY TOO SALTY. I could not finish it. We finished with a Blueberry and Mascarpone Crespella for dessert. It was described as being a crepe BUT is was so dense. Flavorful but too heavy. The noise level in the restaurant was on the high side. It was hard to carry on a conversation.

This place is a solid 4 stars. I love the decor. It feels like a little Bistro. We went during Restaurant week but we would definitely be back. The food was a tad salty to me but everything was still good.

Really vacillating between a 3 and 4 star review for the Wooden Table. The food was definitely up to snuff, and on that basis alone it should be a favorable review, but there were just enough things to detract from the experience that I have to take it down a notch. First, the food. Wooden Table has an excellent selection of pastas, salads, and entrees and while nothing is particularly innovative or original, they've clearly got a talented chef. The pastas in particular are fresh-made, and I tried one of the new items on the menu, a pork belly Amatriciana. It was excellent, very porky, with two thick pork belly slices over the fresh spaghetti tossed in a pancetta based tomato sauce. I was however expecting something a bit spicier to live up to the Amatriciana name. For my entree, I had the duck, which was a breast served over crunchy croutons and a split pea base. It was interesting but I didn't especially like the pea puree paired with the duck. One niggling issue was that the menu item said that the duck was both breast and confit, but there was no confit, as far as I could tell. I even checked the menu again afterward, to see if the confit was part of a sauce or shredded and I just missed it, but no, it was supposed to be a leg confit. Oh well. My wife had the scallops and they were three fat scallops nicely seared and served over a crab cake. Others in my party had a halibut served in a brodo. They all looked excellent and got good reports, but I didn't taste them. Service was nice and friendly, but it was mostly young servers. Complimentary limoncello and amaretto were offered as after-dinner drinks, which was a nice touch. Now for the detractions. First, the prices are pretty steep for a suburban strip mall. The entrees are all mid-$20s and up, and if you really are going to get three courses as the menu seems to suggest you should do, it would easily be a 50 dollar per person bill (excluding drinks). Even the pasta half-portions were 15 bucks or so, which as a second course is steep. The food quality probably justifies the prices, but it can be a surprise for someone looking for more economical options. Maybe all the Cherry Hills crowd can afford dropping $100 per couple for dinner, but for most of us it's a reach to pay that much when the next place over is a Pancake House. Second, the location and ambience of the place feels pretty suburban strip mall; there's something cheap and Pottery Barn to the decor, maybe it's the cheap lighting. The bathroom door is very close to some of the tables, and the size of the restaurant is so small, everyone can see when you make your way to the toilet. It certainly is not going to impress a date. Finally, I also found it odd that the namesake wooden table in the middle of the restaurant never had anyone sitting at it. We came in late for dinner, so I thought maybe that they would offer us the community table to liven up the place, but they didn't. It sat empty the whole night. So the wooden table is really a dead space in the middle of the restaurant surrounded by the all the other tables of eaters. Kind of defeats the purpose, doesn't it?

Wooden Table offers a tremendous menu. My wife and I have dinner here once a month. The menu changes seasonally with a few items that are always on the menu, like the muscles, which are just full of flavor. Gary the GM is always there it seems to make sure everything is perfect. Jordan runs the bar and he has been willing to mix up some unique, off menu, cocktails upon request. It's a small place and reservations are a must. It's also not kiddo friendly. This is truly the highest quality restaurant south of Cherry Creek and the DTC.

I suppose there is something to be said about a persons tastes and desires. We all know that I am a fan of most everything Frank B has done in Denver. So, when I went to the Wooden Table and found out that that the driving force behind this gem is Brett Shaheen who's resume includes Chef d' Cuisine Luca d' Italia and Executive Chef at Osteria Marco I knew I was in for a treat. I had been wanting to try this place for a while and finally got there for lunch date. I did my pre-dining scouting on their website and of course the menus. I am a huge fan of sweetbreads and I noticed that they had them on their dinner appetizer menu. They indulged my sweetbread fetish by allowing me to request this item off the dinner menu. Awesomeness! The salad and sandwiches were packed with flavor and definetely not lacking in portion size. Now to get back for dinner! Highly recommended

Food quality: 5 stars Service: 4 stars Menu selection/creativity: 3 stars Wine list: 2 stars Atmosphere: 2 stars Well prepared foods, but sort of a boring menu. The service was good. The wine list was heavy on chards/SB blends and medium body Italians. Their menu deserves a good Syrah or a Zin option. The atmosphere is very loud, cold and not intimate. A few simple changes would make this a better option in an area that is under served with fine dining options.

I went because I decided to get a Groupon. So excited to take my dad and his wife to lunch. Oh no I cannot use it at lunch. Should have read the small print. Now what do I do with the Groupon because I really do not care to go back. We all ended up with sausage sandwiches and they were ok but I have had better. Service was slow but the wait staff was nice. I know better than to purchase coupons I might not use. Instead of saving money I lost money..

Perfectly balanced dishes with superb seasoning. Torteloni is soul-satisfying with golden broth and delicate speck draped on top. Ravioli is perfection. The eggplant rolatini is crisp, cheesy, and the eggplant is sliced so thin! Their marinara really is phenomenal; mouth-watering tang but mildly sweet and somehow still maintains a freshness of tomatoes and basil. Ambiance is comfortable and welcoming. Service is attentive and the Tom Collins is refreshing and perfectly made. I love it here. Unpretentious with consistently satisfying meals. Great parking!

Delicious! This will no doubt end up being on the best new restaurants list and if they keep it up one of the best restaurants in Denver. Yes, the food is just as good as any Frank Bonanno restaurant, however it may be lacking the character a little bit. But there is also something to be said for a restaurant that doesn't have to be in a prime location and can stand solely based on it's food and service. And a nice little touch we weren't expecting they offer a complimentary shot following your meal. We were too stuffed for dessert, but the shot was perfect!

I picked the Wooden Table to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I love to try new restaurants and I've heard good things. We had a wonderful evening not only because we really enjoyed our meals but also because our server, David, was an absolute pleasure. He knew that menu inside and out and was very enthusiastic and attentive. He made our evening. My only disappointment about this restaurant...I called about 5 hours prior to ask that they have champagne at our table as a surprise for my husband. The lady recommended several bottles and gushed about how great it was we chose to celebrate at their restaurant. Needless to say, no champagne. I could also tell the maître d was overwhelmed by his job. I'm guessing my request was overlooked due to the pressure of managing the front of the house. The little touches will either make a good evening great or meh...thankfully we had David so it was GREAT! Have the mussels as an app...oh my LORD they are good!!!

This place tries way too hard to be gourmet and does not achieve it. They're incredibly inflexible and do not allow for substitutions or changes. For a restaurant that caters to specific tastes, it makes it difficult to find something suitable if you have allergies or restrictions. All in all, look at the menu before you go. If these are foods that appeal to you, you'll probably like it, if not pass.

We had dinner here last night. The food was outstanding - the service not-so-much. Being the seasoned Yelper, I did my homework and read the reviews. We forged ahead. The place is small and loud but comfortable. We had reservations and were seated as soon as a table was available. We were told that our waiter Ramon would be with us shortly and shared that he is an expert at the wine list. Turns out that's all he was interested in. Once we passed on ordering wine - he lost the love. We had to ask for several items more than once and when the check came he hovered until a credit card appeared and snatched it up like a hawk. We'll be back for the yummy food. We'll just make sure our reservations are for another section. I had the ravioli and it was spectacular! My sister had the mussels and she really liked them. This place is a gem in the burbs - just steer clear of the wine expert!

I thought that the food and wine was delicious and the ambiance was very nice. Service was good. It seemed to have a much older crowd than I would have expected, but it is in the burbs. Its a bit pricey, especially for the pasta dishes. The reviews rated it as $$ No, not the case. Its more like $$$-$$$$. I did have a nice evening despite that, and the food was delicious, so I will probably go back!

Leaving Denver for the southern burbs, I feared a future of fast food lunches and date nights at the Olive Garden. Hooray for The Wooden Table! It elevates a cruddy little strip mall into a high end dining experience. It's upscale yet unpretentious, the food is fresh and creative, and the service is attentive without being pushy. I'm saving that fifth star for when we go back and attack the dessert menu...

Man. It is seriously unfortunate that a bad experience gets people on yelp so much more quickly than a good one. I just came to this page looking for the phone number and I'm totally shocked by some of the reviews here. I know it's expensive, but the prices are right there on the menu! And if your experience is not good--it's a new restaurant! Say something and give them a chance to fix it! So, anyway, very off-the-cuff: I came here once and, may I tell you--it was a piece of heaven. An expensive, come-when-you're-feeling-flush sort of heaven, but heaven nonetheless. I had the scallops and mussels. I have never had scallops like that before. I have never had mussels like that. I think about them, sometimes, when I reach for the frozen mussels in the grocery aisle. Then I sigh a little sadly and remind myself that some day I can return. It's nice to be in a restaurant that isn't all about putting up plaster and confetti to make it seem like you're in Italy. I'm not in Italy. I'm in a restaurant with nice wooden tables. It's nice. The tables are pretty. The food is delicious. That's really why I'm there. Our waiter was super friendly and the staff was attentive. I suppose I'd prefer a space with a bit more sound-absorbing surfaces--just bc it was a bit noisy. But everyone's got their thing. Oh, and the manager was really incredibly nice. I came a bit before my friend and waited on the bench there, but she offered me wine and chatted with me while I waited. Totally delicious. I look forward to going again. Crazed reviewers--particularly those of you who unwittingly found yourself in a new restaurant on Valentine's day--please take a deep breath and give it another go.

I went to this restaurant for a large group dinner. The service was amazing!! - each member of the staff we interacted was friendly and attentive. The food was extremely fresh and well prepared. I ordered the fish, which was solid, but the meat dishes my friends ordered looked much more mouthwatering. The appetizers were also delicious. This restaurant was a great find and easy to get a reservation with. Great surprise in the suburbs of Denver!

What a surprise! So, we try this place because someone gave us a $20 gift certificate. Friday night, 7PM and the place seemed pretty empty, so we're thinking that's not a good sign. We go to check in and it turns out the whole place is booked except for the community table, so we're in luck. The food was very good. Delicious flavors, reasonable portions. Decent wine selection. Definitely not what I would have expected in a strip mall.

The wooden table is a classy restaurant. We actually had our wedding reception here knowing that we would get good food, a beautiful setting, and great service. You can pick anything from the menu and not be disappointed. In particular I like the duck and beef. They have a great way of serving the meat in two different ways on the plate without being overwhelmed with food. So you get different textures and flavors. My wife likes various pasta dishes and the salads are to die for. I know other friends have really liked the salmon. The wine is also delicious.

Just popped in on this newer neighborhood strip mall restaurant to check it out and we could not be more disappointed. I don't have a review of the food because an hour after ordering, we still did not have it on our table. We told our waiter we had to leave for a show and we could not wait any longer. So he brought us our bill and much to our surprise it was $95! I guess that was a $90 bottle of wine that the waiter offered us when we sat down. Shame on us for not asking the price I guess. (who knew strip mall restaurants had $90 bottles of Chianti!) We understand, you can't always be at your best which is fine.. we paid our bill and accepted that... but then the manager came over, Rudy, he started to apologize and completely threw his waiter under the bus. Said that he was not his best waiter and that he wanted to make sure we knew it was not the kitchens fault. I told Rudy that was one of the most unprofessional displays of customer service I had ever experienced. This manager had a chance to make things right for an unfortunate dining experience and he completely botched it. Can't imagine a place that treats their employees this way will be around much longer.

I've eaten at Wooden Table a number of time. Every time the food, service and atmosphere have been top notch. Friday a friend and I returned to celebrate her birthday. Every thing was once again flawless - truly 5 stars because when asked if Jane and Brent were in so that I could tell them how delicious everything was, I was told both were out spending a well deserved evening with family. 5 stars for being able to duplicate the same level of food and service even with the Chefs/part owners out!!!

I've eaten at every highly-lauded establishment in Denver, but had not yet found anything notable in the south metro. Here it is--a solid meal in a cozy space with great service. Our server was knowledgeable and polished. Try the mussels, which are very well done and bathed in a great broth. Our duck breast and lamb chops were cooked quite well and flavorful. The accoutrements were excellent and artfully plated, but very small. We enjoyed the pumpkin cheesecake for dessert which had a pleasant, not-overly-pumpkin taste. The two men staffing the front of the house had an efficient system going. Give this place a try in you're in the Greenwood Village / Highlands Ranch / Lone Tree area. We'll be back.

Visited from out of town and had a spectacular dinner. Favorites include the chicken liver mousse, lamb gnocchi, and duck. Great wine pairing suggestions. Nice ambience - no cheesy decor, just straight forward good food.

The Wooden Table is awesome! We've been there several times and every time the food and service has been amazing. I always ask for Gary to choose my wine. His love of food and wine pairings shows immediately upon talking to him and he makes you that much more excited about your upcoming meal. We will be going back and telling all our friends about it!

We had a family outing at The Wooden Table this evening. I'm surprised this is the first review, because the place was packed. Because we had a large party, we ordered a lot of different items off the menu and shared things around. For appetizers, we ordered the mussels and the fresh mozarella. The mussels were the clear winner, as they had a fresh taste and a delicious broth. For entrees, our party ordered the scallops, which were seared to perfection over a crispy baccala cake. Probably the best scallops we've had in a long time. The salmon was mild yet flavorful, and the flatiron steak was cooked to perfection. Two members of our party ordered pasta (bucatini and tortellini). All of the dishes were quite good, but we felt that the entrees were far and away the most creative. For dessert, I recommend the goat cheese tres leches. Apart from the food, we had some pretty interesting people-watching. In one sitting, we observed (in no particular order): - A newborn baby (no more than two weeks old) at the bar - A woman who forgot to remove the tag from her newly-purchased and soon-to-be-returned cocktail dress - A man eating pasta with his own pair of disposable chopsticks How could we not go back?! Seriously, though, this is probably one of the more interesting new restaurants in South Denver in recent memory. Definitely give it a try.

My second time to the restaurant did not live up to the experience from my first visit. My boyfriend wanted to take me somewhere nice, and I had been wanting to go there with him. We were there early and arrived with no reservation. The place was empty, but we were sat by the table in the middle part of the room closest to the hallway leading to the bathrooms. It smelled of cleaners and disinfectants, enough to make me comment to my boyfriend. He didn't seem bothered, so I figured I was being too sensitive...but that's not a great smell. My boyfriend didn't like the short menu, but I prefer fewer choices when food is quality. Based on my prior visit, I figured I knew they make good stuff. We had the mussels to start. I thought they were just as good as the first time, but the boyfriend didn't think they were all that. Still, it's the one thing I still recommend on the menu. I had the black cod entree, which was tasty. The fish was done well, and the cauliflower puree was good. Just, the portions were so small, and the color was so blech. My whole plate was a study in beige/brown. Also, there wasn't enough puree and they put too many actual pieces of cauliflower on my plate. My boyfriend had the filet over braised short ribs with a green sauce. It was really tasty. The green sauce was the highlight of the night. But, again, the portions were noticeably small. I don't mind spending money on good food, but I do mind spending my money on tiny portions. Our waiter was nice, but he didn't seem too knowledgeable. I dunno. I mean...I guess it depends on the night and waht you order. Try the place out. I will go back again...may as well.

This place is a neighborhood gem! The FOH manager & waitstaff are all friendly & appreciative of your business. My husband & I are from Boston, MA where the Italian food is top notch, and we think this place is superb! My husband also has an Italian mother, so he's particular about his Italian food... And he says "best Italian in Denver". Give this place a try... You'll be happy you did :)

Had one of the worst dining experiences ever. In fact, the following night I had a better meal at Red Lobster! Where do I start? The service. For what portends to be a fine dining restaurant, at least price wise, the server was not only unknowledgeable, but bordering on rude. I've never left such a poor tip in my life. When she didn't know how to substitute an item she went to the manager who portends to be so helpful but is an oversolicitous bag of windwho couldn't get it right either and then was surprised. Food was tasty, but my portion was so miniscule, I had to go home and have dinner. Not enjoyable when I paid $70 per person (including a few glasses of wine). Others seem to like this place, but when so many great choices abound (although not much nearby), why frequent this place? No wonder it's in a strip mall. That should've been the first clue.

First visit to the Wooden Table-- disappointing to say the least. The tables are cramped into a small space and the noise level is terrible making conversation difficult. Food was good but took forever--at one point we looked around the crowded room and saw only one table with people eating. $12 cocktails for a strip mall restaurant? No thanks-- we won't be back...

We just enjoyed a wonderful meal at the Wooden Table. We've been there before a few times over the past two years, and we have never been disappointed. The mussels in clam and saffron broth were excellent. The Colorado lamb was perhaps the most tender US lamb we've ever had. The presentation and flavors with the goat cheese and mushroom and spinach turnover were outstanding. The hangar steak was tender and the preparation complex with the veal demiglace, and the potatoes and 'italian bacon (pancetta or prosciutto)' were a great complement to the dish. The apple crostini with salted caramel was great way to finish off the meal. The wine list has a small range of very good wines with a concentration on Italians (not surprising). With food and wine like this it's easy to forget that the restaurant is in a shopping center. We will be back.

Creative presentation of authentic Italian dishes; well-served by a knowledgable staff. Everything was top-quality, from the olive oil to the vin santo. Highly recommended for any occasion, especially if you hate battling traffic downtown.

Really like this place. Great food and service. A little on the small side and they need a better ventilation system. One of those places where you the smell lingers on your clothes after you leave. Not a bad smell, but still... Still, I recommend supporting this small business. We need more choices like this.

Cocktails are $12, non-pasta entrees are$25-35. I accidentally left my groupon at home, didn't realize it until I was there for our reservation. The manager honored it anyways and I called later with the certificate number. The food was excellent. Scallops were perfect and the creme de Pom dessert was amazing.

The ol' ball and chain and I were looking for a close-by Italian restaurant before a movie, but the pickins around Cherry Hills/Greenwood Village are usually pretty slim... BUT much to our delight, we spotted this new place on Yelp and went for it. The atmosphere is pleasant and warm, and the staff can be described in the same way, I'd say. As for the food, the panzanella salad was yummy (especially with those pesto croutons!) as was the prosciutto/melon salad. I like how they shaved the melon to incorporate it into the salad better. My bf got the papardelle with the rabbit, and while it tasted delicious, I thought the presentation could have been a little more appetizing. (small cubes of turnips and carrots with shredded meat in a white sauce tends to look a bit like puke). I had the duck dish. The breast was perfect- juicy, tender, and well flavored. The accompanying brussel sprouts were also perfectly browned and the pureed butternut squash was a nice touch. The duck canneloni, however, I found to be a tad dry. Still a scrumptious dish though, and I cleaned my plate! So, suburbanites, PLEASE GO HERE! It's the tasty, well-priced Italian joint we've needed forever, don't let it disappear! ps don't pass up the home made limoncello at the end! nom nom

Grown-up food in the burbs. What an unexpected lunch delight. Highly recommended. Honest, Adult food, and by that I mean things tasting like they're supposed to taste each one by itself. everything extraordinarily fresh. Menu items presented artfully and with taste. The food is Easily on a par with any fine dining restaurant in Denver. Even the house made potato chips are noteworthy. Nothing pretentious. Nothing over the top. Just great food served in A grown up setting. We will return as often as we can.

Went there for an anniversary dinner and I was pleasantly surprised with everything. The mussels were phenomenal and we also had an appetizer portion of the tortellini. It was obvious they were homemade, which is a refreshing change. My husband had the halibut for dinner which was great but the gnocchi I had were a million times better. They melted in my mouth and again...definitely homemade. They treated us to a sample of their lemoncella and we had the tres leches cake for dessert. I have no complaints other than the food took a while to come out but we were in no hurry so it really didn't bother me. All in all an amazing place and we will definitely be back. I highly recommend giving this place a shot.

My wife and I have been to The Wooden Table twice now, once for the soft opening, and once on a date night. Both meals were fantastic. We have literally tried everything on the menu, and have not been disappointed at all. I recommend the bucatini, which we have done as a small plate before dinner, the duck entree and the scallops entree. The prawns with the bucatini are fantastic and the spicy marinara provides some kick. The duck and scallops were both amazing. I generally don't enjoy duck because of the fat, but this was not fatty or greasy and was very flavorful. The scallops were the best I've had in Denver. Overall - I highly recommend this restaurant!

As locals we are always looking for great restaurants downtown because they offer variety and innovation. Its been a while since we had food of such caliber so close to home. Every dish we had was great. Starting with the chicken liver mousse and mussels(these needed a little more salt) then we were torn between the pastas. We loved the pappardelle with the braised rabbit and the agnolotti with the braised lamb. These handmade pasta dishes were light and packed unbelievable flavors. We also had Berkshire pork tenderloin which was cooked to perfection and the ham hock bread pudding that accompanied the dish was delicious. The wine list is extensive and we sampled a couple of glasses of wine that were divine. The food was amazing and the service was great. Our server wasn't pushy or absent. She timed our meal just the way we like it and made great suggestions. Overall this restaurant has my vote and we will definitely go back to try other dishes from the menu.

We enjoyed a great lunch for a graduation celebration - everything was excellent. Lunch menu was somewhat limited in the sandwiches category, however, the sandwishes were very good. Desserts - tres leches cake, sorbets, and chocolate cheesecake - were terrific. I had previously eaten at the Wooden Table on three occasions and knew that whatever we had was going to be good. Service was excellent as usual, and dessert for my son who graduated was complimentary, which was a nice surprise.

There are not very many restaurants that I would describe as Fabulous, but this is one of them. We dropped in for dinner on a Friday night and were lucky enough to get a table for two without a reservation - highly unusual. Everything was top notch from the salad, to the pasta, wine, main course, desert and complimentary Limoncella. I will definitly go back. The food was fresh, my Halibut was generous in size and cooked to perfection. My husband had a sausage dish that was simmered in the most robust, flavorful broth I think I have ever tasted. A wonderful meal.

Food is well prepared and not too pretentious. I had the gnocchi with lamb but it was almost too salty to eat, I suspect this was an unusual issue as I generally noticed everyone else complimenting their meals. My only warning is that the restaurant is small and noisy. Four of us could barely hear each other (and our table was in a corner - but adjacent to the big table in the middle which was occupied by a large group. I'd give this a higher rating were it not for the noise and prices. Will likely go back but won't frequent nor do on a weekend.

We tried out The Wooden Table for the 1st time this evening for 5280 restaurant week. Dinner was 3 courses and cost $52.80 for two. Our waiter told us the name of the special organic wine they were featuring but when I asked him about it, he knew very little. I asked if organic meant that there were no sulfates and he said he wasn't sure. Then, I asked him about the shrimp stuffed trout on the menu and he replied that he never had it. REALLY??? How can you sell your menu if you don't taste it? He told us that they were really stingy with the food for employees! I don't think he was joking! My husband loved his pork loin but the brussels sprouts on the side numbered about 4. I thought the Chef's vegetarian choice was good, but not great. It was a mushroom and polenta dish that while savory and well seasoned, was a very small portion. The waiter told me it was grilled polenta so it was a bummer when it arrived that it was soft polenta. He told me he was sorry but that the chef told him it was grilled. The wine by the glass pour was skimpy. A Coors light was $6!!!!!! I will say that the arugula salad was divine! And the bread pudding was very good. Too bad that the waiter lacked knowledge and professionalism!

Returned for a Saturday night experience. Last trip was for a Saturday lunch. The plusses: frutti di mare crude was a light, refreshing, flavorful acidic blend of shrimp, octopus and scallops with tonnato and chili oil. Couldn't identify the tonnato, nor the chili oil, but it was delightful none the less. The Chicken Liver Mouse Crostini was accompanied by baby arugula. The deep rich flavor of the chicken liver was well-balanced with the lightness of the mouse. The gnocchi with lobster, lobster brodo and white truffle oil was to our surprise, delicate and refined. Two big dog flavors like lobster and truffle can be overwhelming if not handled with subtlety. The dish was fantastic. The Grilled House Sausage with Braised Chicken and Crispy Polenta was devoured. Hardly a breath was taken as the process from plate to fork to slow chew to the satisfying swallow left our guest content, smiling, with not much to say. The minuses: Pan-seared Halibut with fava beans, roasted fennel, pancetta, and asparagus, floating in some broth. Fish had no flavor, had a mealy texture, was swimming in a nondescript broth covering some brown mush (Roasted fennel?) with no sign of pancetta or fava beans. If this dish had been our introduction to Wooden Table, we would never return. Our Saturday lunch desserts were delectable, remarkable and left us wanting more. Saturday dinner desserts left us crying out, "Why?" The Tres Leches cake was dried out, crusty, with a slight sour note that made us wonder, "Is it safe to eat?" The Seasonal Dessert, described as a mixed berry cobbler was a n acidic combination of apples, blueberries, raspberries hidden underneath a dried our crust that could not be eaten. Conclusion? Variation is the enemy of quality. The kitchen does some things very well. Others not so well. Inconsistency in the delivery of the same dish is proof of a lack of control in the kitchen. Precision and accuracy are not present yet to make this a favorite restaurant. Remove the variation in the processes. Improve the wine list. Instead of jumping on the "I use seasonal ingredients and therefore must be a good restaurant" bandwagon, learn how to execute what you do well correctly every time.

Wow, thank God for Yelp! We were tired of the same old restaurants...Yelp to the rescue. Funny thing is that we had decided to meet another couple for dinner at the Yard House at Park Meadows. We thought their daughter was joining and thus selected family-friendly Yard House. Long story, short, once we realized it was adults only, I quickly called The Wooden Table, having researched the restaurant earlier on Yelp. Gary, the host, was great with lining up a table for 4 within 30 minutes on a hopping Saturday night. He gave me directions from PM mall area...and get this, before hanging up, he used my name, and asked "Are we celebrating anything special tonight," to which I replied, "Yes, two birthdays!" We arrived 15 minutes later, and slid up to the bar for a cocktail while waiting for our table. I usually go for wine, but decided to branch out. I asked the bartender (who ended up being our waitress) about the Tequila Rosa (with egg whites!) and tried it. It was so yummy and special! Once seated at our table, we all enjoyed the wonderful service - she was very attentive (wish I had gotten her name), professional and pleasant. Our waitress was very informative about educating us on the menu (asked if it was our first visit and then let us know what items on the menu were made in-house). We all enjoyed our salad (Prosciutto di Parma), appetizers (Pork Belly and Mussels), and the entrees were delicious and beautifully presented (Monk Fish, Lamb Sausage and Duck). The Tres Leches cake was moist and decadent for dessert. And just when it couldn't get any better, our lovely waitress brought over house-made complimentary Limoncello. We will be going back! Next time, I would love to try one of the house-made pastas -- maybe shrimp scampi.

I had high expectations after seeing some the reviews. I was sadly disappointed. We had dinner last night, Valentines day. There was a special several course menu for a fixed price not including wine. The antipasto was cannelloni beans, coleslaw and pork. The seasoning was minimal so the beans were essentially tasteless and I could not eat the "pork" as it was mostly fat. An average arugala salad followed, by the best course of the dinner, a pasta, somewhat like a tortollini but much better. The light garlic sauce that was served with it was flavorful and excellent. Then we waited for at least an hour for the main course. We were there for two hours before it was served. I ordered the salmon which was just OK, nothing spectacular, my husband ordered the lamb which he enjoyed. The desserts, a chocoate torte and a cookie with blueberries and whipped cream were below average and seemed thrown together. I think the part of the dinner I least enjoyed was getting the check. OK, $100 per couple for the dinner was barely worth it, but then a 20% gratuity was added to the check. I have never heard of this for just two people!! A 20% or more gratuity is for outstanding service and meal, not what we had. I was appalled! So adding that in plus 3 glasses of average wine for $10 a pop, our bill was $156!! I never mind paying that much for an outstanding meal, but this did not qualify as such. Then the adding in of the gratuity on a party of two just angered me. We could have had a much better meal elsewhere for less. We won't be returning.

We ate at the restaurant last night 10-14-14 and the salads were good but that is about the only good comment I have. The biggest problem is that our food took forever and then it took forever to get our check. It was a long night. I had the beef and my mom and daughter had the scallops. None of us found our main course very good. The meat and scallops were cooked well but the little square potato's were awful. For a restaurant being that expensive, you should get good service and good food. Also the portions were small - which were fine for us but if you are hungry - this in not the place.

Was very excited to go here... didn't get the opportunity. They had a deal on living social that I purchased that included a shared appetizer two mains and a dessert, pretty good deal! Unfortunately when I went to make the reservation I was one day late, and the restaurant informed me they would not honor... they didn't say they would give me discount for how much I paid for the voucher, or anything else... they just said I was SOL. I have no problem paying full price for dinner, but I will be spending my money elsewhere.

The food here is very good, the only reason it's not 5 stars is it is expensive! I will only come here if I have a groupon or it is a very special occasion. Having a casual dinner here is not in my budget. But like I said the food is great. They used to have a goat cheese ravioli which was amazing, so I hate that they don't have it on the menu anymore, but other dishes are delicious as well.

Recently tried this restaurant for our anniversary. We will be back! The staff was incredible! All were knowledgeable about the menu and wine pairings. The food that arrived did not disappoint. We shared an appetizer portion of lamb gnocchi, and had the duck and the halibut for entrees. Melt in your mouth perfect! Thank you! Thank you! This place is a gem.

I was a little concerned based on a few of the reviews and I am not really anywhere close to this restaurant, but decided to give it a try and am very happy I did. You would not expect the quality of food served here to be located in a strip mall. We went with the recommendations of our server and the sommelier. We had the mussels to start which were really good enough to want to find every piece of bread in the place and dip it in the broth. The wine the sommelier suggested was very good and reasonably priced. We both got pasts dishes since they are made in house. These were both quite good. I had the Ricotta Cavatelli which was really good, but note it is rich. There were too barley cooked eggs on top to stir in on your own which was a nice touch. My hubby had the linguine, which as good as mine was, I think I liked it even better. It had a nice kicked to it but not spicy. We opted not to have dessert because we were so satisfied with the flavors we had at the point, we didn't want to change it. We were also crazy full. The service was really good, but did slow as they got busier. I recommend going early.

This is a very nice place. All of the food was cooked beautifully & Nice Wines. The staff were all very nice. Our friends split a salad for their Appetizer and they were served half each on 2 plates which was a really thoughtful touch. My hubby got the mussels and there was plenty of them. I got the Chicken liver mousse and that was great. For the mains, us two ladies got the smaller portion of pasta. $14 each and they were pretty small. My Husband spent over $30 on "Lamb T-bone" which were Lamb Chops (we're Australian, we know Lamb) with not much on the side and the other main was scallops, 3 massive scallops. It was all lovely & tasty but usually if I have a main & and app, I'd never get dessert, but I did, a extremely tart Lemon Cake. It wasn't the cake that was the most tangy though, it was the sauce on the bottom.

Meh... Chicken liver appetizer was awesome. Signature cocktails were average (lemon drop and hello zacher) but it was fun to find a BOGO Free with a Yelp check-in. Arugula salad was good. Service was good. Lamb was $30 but it was like eating 2 pieces of leather. I asked for another steak knife as I hoped the knife was dull, but it only slightly helped stop the table from violently shaking. Halibut was average, at best. Sauces for both entrees were yummy but neither salvaged the dish. The Gnocchi actually had a hard texture. Hard gnocchi? Despite having a free cocktail, dinner totaled $113 before tip. I almost gave 3 stars, but we can find several other restaurants to enjoy at that dinner price.

This place is only a mile from my house so I tried it out for my birthday dinner with a few girlfriends. We were all very pleased! We all got different salads, I had the Caesar, and they were all tasty (for those who are anchovy shy, the Caesar does come with them) I had the tortelloni and it was great, portion is on the small side, but with the salad that worked out just fine. One of my girlfriends had the beef and that will be what I get next time I go. I also had a fabulous dirty martini and to end our meal we went with a 'liquid dessert' and had the homemade lemoncello.

One of my favorite restaurants!! My taste buds were excited and looking forward to another wonderful meal! Calina and I came in about half an hour before our reservation and were immediately greeted by Robert, such a friendly and personable Host. We were able to enjoy a Walnut Manhattan cocktail before dinner. We used the Yelp check in to get a BOGO for the cocktail. The Walnut Manhattan was so yummy and my taste buds were happy. We then ordered a bottle of red wine and proceeded to attack the delicious mussels--Yum, Yum, Yum. The broth is so tasty and could eat it as a soup! Also ordered the delicious Arugula salad (a must get each time we come in to dine). For the entrees we ordered the duck, the veal osso buco, the cod, the tortellini, and beef platters. We all tried each others entrees and once again, taste buds were jumping and happy! To end the meal we ordered the Tres Leches Cake and the Chocolate Cake with a round of complimentary Limoncello (made in-house and the best I have ever tasted). It was another wonderful dining experience and looking forward to the next one!!

Concept: Very Good Atmosphere: Average Menu: Very Good Food: Excellent Service: Excellent As many have said don't let the strip mall fool you. Inside you will find an amazing culinary experience. The service is attentive and friendly. The menu is brief but offers a wonderful diversity of dishes. There's something for just about everyone. I had the Duck and it was top notch! My only constructive feedback I would have is the interior decor could use some quick updating. The inside feels like a strip mall restaurant. Again, the food and service will soon make you completely forget about the mismatched art and styles.

I'm disappointed and hurt by my treatment at the Wooden Table. My husband got a promotion at work, so as a last-minute thought, we swung by The Wooden Table for a celebration night. It was a Thursday evening, a little bit before 6:30. They had five open tables. The hostess asked if we had a reservation and we replied, "No... but we're hoping we can get a table!" The manager (I believe-- baldish guy with a big beard) coughed at her "BAR!" and thus we were seated at the bar. I did ask her if any "reservations" for those five open tables cancelled, if we could please be moved. She agreed. The tables remained open. We were not moved. (By the time we left, around 8:00, there were four open tables, with a horde of people wrapping up to go as we were). During our meal, we heard the manager complaining openly about walk-ins and it sounded like the kitchen was unprepared to handle a half-full dining room. I believe his mother was sitting next to us at the bar, and he was loud and talking about burping in people's faces. A lovely young couple, obviously out on a date, came in with a Groupon, and we heard him complaining LOUDLY about that as well. Despite the food being decent, there are much better places to drop $150 for 2 for a night out. And I will say, dessert was NOT good. The molten chocolate cake tastes like a cinnamon bomb. It's hard to taste any cocoa because your mouth is on fire from the unwieldy amount of cinnamon. I get that reservations are helpful, but to feel sized up, deemed less than, and shunned to the bar when you have open tables is BAD BUSINESS. We were so hungry and my husband was so excited about his night out that we didn't leave, but I wish we had. We will never step foot in that restaurant again.

I had dinner a few months back with some friends and we also had a small infant with us. The staff could not have been nicer and more accommodating to our party to make sure we were in a corner where there wouldn't be a draft and less traffic so that the baby wasn't bumped in her carrier. The food was delicious, the wine list decent and the staff friendly! I signed up for their email list and received an email to get 15% off my next meal -- wooooo! So, I took my husband back this past weekend. Can you believe it, again the food was delicious, the wine list decent and the staff friendly! The atmosphere is very cozy, romantic but lively. It's a gem of a spot.

Upscale restaurant with moderately good food for high prices. After having amazing gnocchi elsewhere the previous day, I ordered theirs. It was starchy, dense, and required a lot of chewing. This should melt in your mouth! We did enjoy our desserts, the tres leches cake and lemon semifraddo. Definitely save room for this. Or just go for dessert and elsewhere for lunch/dinner.

I came here with a Groupon and I'm glad, because my final opinion is that we received a fine $60 meal, but I would not have paid full price to eat here. This place is in a strip mall in a upscale neighborhood. The atmosphere in the restaurant is reflective of that. There's just something about it that seems... cheap. Cheap in a "I would never come here on a first date" sort of way. While I vastly prefer the trendy atmospheres common to downtown restaurants, I didn't hold the atmosphere against The Wooden Table in my 4-star review. Per the Groupon, we received one appetizer, two entrees, and a dessert for $60. For our appetizer, we ordered the polenta. My general opinion was that it was good, but not great. I'm not even sure what was missing exactly... It just sort of lacked flavor. I have to admit, our entrees were delicious. I had the American Red Snapper. My husband had the Ravioli. I would DEFINITELY order the Red Snapper again. It's on a bed of creamy lobster, shrimp, and potato salad. The outside of the snapper fillet is toasted such that the outside provides a nice crunch while the inside is moist and delicious. The snapper pairs perfectly with the creamy lobster, shrimp, and potatoes. The whole package was really excellent! My husband also thoroughly enjoyed his Ravioli, which was filled with cheese and served in a buttery sauce. For dessert, we ordered the Tres Leches Cake. I have to say, it wasn't the best Tres Leches that I've had. I prefer my Tres Leches to be a little more... creamy. It is "3 milk cake", after all... Having said that, it was served with strawberries, which were incredibly fresh. I love, love, love strawberries, so this simple addition added a huge value for me. All in all, it was a good meal for $60. Again, I'm not sure I would have paid more for our meal and given the atmosphere and location, I doubt we'll be back.

What a great little find!! It has small portions that are fresh and delicious. The atmosphere is nice and casual, a very pleasant experience. Perfect for a week night treat or a weekend date.

Everything we had was delicious. The cocktails are well made. The tres leches cake was phenomenal!! The only thing that I would have liked to see more of was vegetarian options. It's a little pricey but well worth it.

I've been here a few times, and every time I leave, I'm always thankful I have a Groupon. I don't mean that in a bad way really -- the food is overall very good (especially their pasta), but I don't think the overall experience is $100 good (see breakdown below). Also, it's a bit strange that a restaurant charging these prices is located in a strip mall. But I digress. Sweetbreads ($14) -- crispy, great sauce 1/2 order of Agnalotti ($14)-- nice pumpkin flavor, subtle sweetness Colorado Lamb ($33) -- juicy and tender American Red Snapper ($29) --smelled super fishy, tasteless (maybe that's a good thing in this particular case), regardless I was very disappointed Tres Leches Cake ($8) -- fresh strawberries, some parts of the cake were too dry Total w/ Groupon: $98 (of note, no drinks were ordered) I can't really seem to put my finger on it, but I don't think the meal is worth the price. Substituting another entree for the red snapper, I'd gladly pay $60 for all the above (coincidentally what the Groupon costs). Any more than that loses its value though. The service has always been great. I would consider returning but only with a voucher.

I've always driven passed and finally decided to give the place a try. Fine dining Italian. Was highly impressed! Great, and friendly staff. We had a late reservation and called to see if they could work us in sooner which they accommodated. We started with a couple of the salads which were tasty. Then had a couple of entrees. The veal was so tender and delicious and the scallops were great as well. Then we finished off with the chocolate covered pear which was not my favorite but my sister absolutely loved it. Definitely would like to return to try some of their pastas! They make them with veal, rabbit, and all kinds of delicious meats. Definitely a nice and unique spot! Make sure to get a reservation a week prior because they are definitely busy!

We visited Wooden Table on a Friday evening after purchasing a $60 Groupon for one appetiser, two entrees and one desert. The Groupon ended up paying for the two entrees with the appetiser and desert being free. It was a fantastic deal. We started with the polenta which was a blast of creamy and savory flavors. For our entrees, I ordered the duck with herbed risotto and my wife had the hanger steak with diced potatoes. Like the appetiser, our entrees were spectacular. The flavors worked perfectly on both dishes. My duck was crispy on the outside and medium rare on the inside. The risotto had large pieces of duck in it which complimented the flavors of the herbs. Her steak was perfectly seasoned and prepared and the diced potatoes were like nothing we had previously tasted. We ordered the tres leches cake for desert and were somewhat disappointed in the dish. The appetiser and entrees, however, more than made up for the lackluster desert. From an ambience standpoint, this is a no thrills restaurant which was slightly disappointing given the menu prices. It does, however, have an excellent wine cellar. The only other downfall is that the service was slow. We spent over two hours on our meal. Plan accordingly.

The Wooden Table is amazing. We went in last evening to celebrate our 7 year wedding anniversary and we felt so taken care of by the staff. From start to finish, the service was immaculate and impeccable. I love that every server you see on the floor is smiling, and working together as a team. As a guest, you can tell everyone working takes great pride in the food and beverages they serve. As well they should, because the food is to die for. Our Mussels came in a mouthwatering Saffron broth with Fennel. They were the best Mussels we've ever had. The Chef puts extra love and flavor into every dish. Even the classic Caesar stood out as special and unique. I'll be dreaming of the Venison Pappardelle for a long time. The beautiful house made pasta, the mouthwatering perfect sauce. We couldn't stop talking about it. Sadly, we ate so much, we had no room for dessert. We will just have to visit again soon. A very special thank you to Robert, who is the kindest, most knowledgeable Maitre D/Sommelier. Robert deftly paired all of our courses with beautiful wine selections. As a former server in restaurants, I love it when I can learn new things about food and wine. Robert really knows his craft. We left there so happy. Everyone at The Wooden Table should be proud. You are levels above your competition, and completely exceed guests expectations. We cannot wait to visit again. Thank you.

Don't let the strip mall setting fool you, The Wooden Table is something special!! I've been here many times, and it's always such a treat. The menu is inventive, the food is extremely fresh and I always leave so happy that I came. Last night we went with another couple and ordered a total of 10 things on the menu (2 apps, 1 salad, 3 app portion pastas, 1 dinner pasta, 1 entree and 2 desserts). Every. Single. Thing was delicious. I agree with our server, Holly...The pastas really are something special because they are all made fresh in house. The pappardelle is mind blowing. I wish I could come here more often (once a week would do it!!) but it's definitely on the pricier side. Totally worth it though! Thanks for a great night wooden table!

We went for lunch using a Groupon. We were brought a plate of bread with olive oil. This was the best part of our meal. My meatball sandwich was bland. I like the meatball sandwiches at Firehouse Subs and Subway much better. The sandwich came with freshly fried rosemary potato chips. My husband liked them. My husband ordered a pasta appetizer which was the portion size available with the Groupon for lunch. There were 7 small tortellini like pastas in a bowl with some broth. He was still hungry and asked for another plate of complimentary bread. This place was pricey even with the Groupon and we will not be back.

When my husband and I visited Europe a couple of years ago, we loved the long leisurely dinners that took hours to complete. We loved how the waiters didn't come by and basically push us out the door like so many do in the US in order to get one last tip before closing. We loved that we could order dessert because we ate so slowly that we had room for the top-off course before going home. The Wooden Table gave us that European dinner that we've missed. We ordered the polenta to start- I never thought a little appetizer could make me so happy! It was fried, smothered in cheese, and then topped with a ladle of marinara. I need to figure out how to have more of that polenta in my life- without having to buy new pants. I ordered the beef with creamed potato and bacon, and haricot verts. The beef was perfectly tender and so flavorful. The potatoes had the perfect texture- as noted by my texturally picky husband. We ordered the volcano cake for dessert, paired with peppermint gelato. I think it's safe to say that it was the best dessert I've ever had. Ever. Also, The Wooden Table gave us our dessert and night cap on the house when they heard it was my birthday, which added to the deliciousness. Every bite of our dinner was perfect, the service was prompt but not pushy, and the atmosphere allowed us to relax and enjoy good conversation. This will be our go-to date night spot from now on!

Wonderful atmosphere, hidden Gem! Amazingly fresh homemade pasta made with love! We got the sweetbreads as an appetizer which melted in your mouth! The waiter was uber professional and very knowledgable about the menu and backstory of the dishes and wine pairings! Highly recommend!

We have been here twice. Both times using a Groupon deal and both times we had a fantastic dining experience. There were new items on the menu the second time we went and I was told that they change their menu a few times a year. Their wine list had some interesting and fun choices, and their food was amazing. The first time we went we had the lamb chops and scallops, the second time we had the venison chops and braised veal shank. So delicious. And we ended our meal the last time with the bread pudding. Amazing. Service was always friendly. The space is small, intimate, and it's great for groups as well as a romantic dinner for two. I'm a fan. While they are a little on the pricey side, they have groupons often which makes it an awesome deal. I recommend having reservations ahead of time for this place.

I will maintain my 5 stars though it's a bit on the cusp. Still fantastic food though not always super inventive. We had the strawberry basil martini and the Papa Doble. Both were good and definitely strong though I don't know that they're worth $12. The balsamic rim on the SB martini was great. We shared the polenta appetizer which reminded me of a really fancy mozzarella stick. So good. We almost ordered another! I had the spinach salad which is studded with butternut squash, bacon, Gorgonzola, and walnuts and the dressed in a lovely apple cider vinaigrette. Definitely worth $9. Hubs had the gnocchi with rabbit and the parsnips and truffle oil sauce was to die for. Fantastic dish. For our mains I had the scallops. It comes with 3 large scallops that sit atop pork belly and then underneath that us a brandade- which is a salted cod emulsion reminiscent of a really fancy hot tuna salad. If your mom ever made bunsteads (which she probably didn't, could be a Midwest thing!) the filling flavor is very similar. Anyhoos- yummy! Hubs had the lamb. The flavor profile is definitely my cup of tea and is how I often prepare lamb. It was tasty. It came with a spinach, mushroom, and goat cheese turnover and was served over a cheese sauce. This good food does not come cheap and they're probably a couple dollars overpriced but to have something so delicious in the neighborhood is definitely worth it.

Do not let the unassuming location fool you, this is one gem you want part of your food memories...THIS year! It's warm low key vibe was a great back drop to the magic that unfolded. We had the distinct pleasure of being served by the brilliant sommelier Robert. My fiancé thought he must be the owner because of the personal joy and pride he showed while guiding us through the menu. We were delighted by the wine he chose for us and the knowledge that came along with the story of the wines history. Then the appetizers came...WOW the food. You know that moment when you wish you were alone so you could lift the bowl to your face and lick the plate? That nearly happened! Much to my fiancés relief they provided a spoon with the clams, although meant for serving I embraced the opportunity to have the full experience with the liquid gold that is this broth. The rest of our meal was romantic and Devine. Everything was made and served with thoughtful care.

You need to try this place. The food is very good, excellent service, friendly staff, home made pasta-why haven't you made your reservation yet? My friend and I split a pasta as an appetizer-it was absolutely delicious. My friend got the veal and liked it but he didn't love it-I got the steak which was so good. So, so good. The potatoes that came with my steak were interesting-yummy but not like I had them before. I really liked them. Fantastic apple dessert to end the meal. The service was practically perfect-the best service I have seen in awhile. Loved loved loved this place. Yes it is in a strip mall by Trader Joe's-I know-but trust me, try this place. Good wine selection too. 4 stars because it wasn't perfect but I can't wait to go back and try some more of their pasta!

2nd time dining for dinner. Both times food was great. However the service both times suck. Our luck we have the same server an older gentlemen. Ramon Guy is terrible. I gave it a try twice. That's two too much for me. I won't be coming back.

4 of us visiting from NYC last night, and what a wonderful treat! The layout of the restaurant is intimate and inviting. Our server, Moana, and the entire staff was very welcoming and excited about the work the restaurant does. You could tell everyone loves the food! The wine list was well chosen, with something in everyone's price range. We ended up with 2 bottles of one of cheaper malbecs which was absolutely delicious. Started with the Sweetbread with grapefruit - with a genius cheese sauce to blend the two. Well seasoned, juicy, and something I'd order every time I come back. I never would have imagined how well grapefruit and cheese go together, but this was one combo worth writing about! The venison rack was cooked to a perfect medium rare, with a plate I could lick clean. We finished with some desert wines and an apple tart topped with caramel sauce and cinnamon ice cream, and I couldn't imagine a better dessert! We'd been eating in several restaurants in the area over the course of the week, but what a mistake. This is absolutely a repeat restaurant - we're going to just come right here next time we visit! Regarding price - this restaurant was about what you'd pay for in New York for a nice up-scale meal. For 2 bottles of wine, one app and entree per person, two desserts and an after-dinner cocktail for everyone, we ended up at about $100pp. Definitely reasonable for a nice night out!

My wife and I recently went here to celebrate. We did not make a reservation. It was a Thursday and they were able to seat us relatively quickly. The food was overall very good. There were some absolute standouts such as the pork belly, the duck cavatelli, and the duck with butternut squash gratin and brussel sprouts. With their complimentary bread they serve an incredible mix of EVOO, rock salt, and an herb. I can't remember whether it was thyme or rosemary, but the combination was great. It really complimented the delicious bread they receive from Trompeau Bakery. Surprisingly the lobster entree was somewhat tough and chewy both in regards to the lobster meat and the pasta it was served on top of. Unfortunately we did not leave room for desert. We both will be back for the Tres Leches and their signature Manhattan cocktail. (but we will most likely sit at the bar.) Similar to other very good restaurants in the Denver area, the maitre d offered us a substitute bottle of wine at the same price when it turned out that the restaurant did not have in stock the bottle we wanted. The substitute was very good. The service was unfortunately pretty lacking. After we were seated we waited at least 25 minutes before anyone came by to check on us. If we had not placed our food order when we ordered our wine I am honestly not sure what time we would have eaten. There was a larger "business" dinner occupying the center of the restaurant with a solid "middle manager" type that wanted everyone to pay attention to him. If anybody is interested this guy had great recommendations for hotels near the red light districts in Dusseldorf and Antwerp. Our guess was that they were all from Visa and half the table was trying to impress their out of town colleagues. To say that their carrying on was distracting is obvious. (Not really something you would expect in a restaurant where the average bill is likely $80.00 per person.) I believe that the reason we were left isolated for so long was simply that the server decided it best to focus on the "big ticket" table and was unable to split the burden of waiting on them and us. Additionally, that night there were a lot of regulars as well as the red light district aficionados. Maybe we were just lower on the priority list being new. I guess when the food is this good they can get away it. The Wooden Table is a smallish nice restaurant in a strip mall in the suburbs. The food is overall good and a refreshing surprise in the midst of such a mediocre environment. The setting reminded me of the original Nobu in Malibu. Among the surrounding area this restaurant is definitely a bright spot. Just be prepared to wait and don't forget to make the most of the limited attention you receive from your waitstaff. On a final note, depending on the size of your bank account, don't be afraid to show up in jeans, sneakers, and t-shirt. It is Colorado!

Really mediocre and disappointing dinner here tonight. There was a 16 person group in the restaurant that seemed to suck all the energy out of the place. We showed up with a Yelp coupon for a free cocktail and had to go through several levels of management to have it honored. I ordered lamb chops at $33, which came out lukewarm to cold after sitting in the kitchen for 20 minutes. One came back nicely done after a complaint. A few good things: bread, chicken liver pate, scallops. But after raving about the quality of this place in previous reviews, I must say our experience tonight was sadly disappointing and closer to what one might expect at a chain restaurant in the burbs. Going to be a while before we return, if we do return. It is certainly difficult to make every dish great every night, but I expected more from this place.

Walked into the restaurant on a Saturday night with a kid in a car seat and no reservation. The host and manager made a huge accommodation and sat us right away. The drinks were great and the arugula salad was amazing! Our entrees were also very well done. Great ambiance and very friendly and welcoming wait staff.

My wife and I went there for our first time tonight. It is in an unassuming strip mall location, and occupies a small space that is clean and simple. Tables are a little close to each other, the main view is the parking lot of the strip mall. I mention all of this because of the dilemma: The food was very good--I had the snapper and my wife the ravioli. Really there can't be any complaints there. But.....the service was slow, and the overall ambience in the strip mall location was average. All together, this evening did not justify the $98 we spent. Seriously, for a couple spending $100, the evening should wow you. The food was very good, but all of the other elements that elevate a restaurant into the great category were not there. The price did not justify the total experience.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
